The Virtual Hackathon activities to combat Covid-19 concluded

​The activities of Virtual Hackathon, organized by IoT Jordan in partnership with several public and private sector institutions with the aim of combating COVID-19 via modern telecommunication technologies, has recently concluded. Orange Jordan's Business Innovation Growth accelerator program (BIG) was the telecom sponsor of the Hackathon with the intention of forming a national initiative that unites efforts and resources to harness technology and innovation in finding solutions and dealing with the consequences of Coronavirus pandemic in the present and the future.The local version of the Virtual Hackathon kicked off at the same time, in accordance with the regional versions in Egypt and Palestine. It received projects and ideas from applicants wishing to participate in the competition, enhance their technical skills from April 8 to 12 to give them the opportunity to benefit from different expertise and receive support. The forum focused on ideas that fell under these four main pillars:  medical and health system support, management  of applications created in response to the pandemic in various sectors, preventive and educational instructions to reduce the spread of the virus, and isolation and quarantine operations support. The winners will be provided technical and financial support to help them turn their ideas into reality. Several speakers with experience in this field participated in the closing ceremony of the Hackathon, led by His Excellency, the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Mothanna Gharaibeh, Dr. Bashar Hawamdeh, Eng. Ahmad Samara, and Eng. Rana AlDababneh.The jury represented by:  Dr. Sherif Halawa, Dr. Youssef Al-Abdullah, Eng. Amal Al-Saadi, Eng. Nicola Fanous, Dr. Penluba Shehab, Eng. Nidal Bitar and Eng. Suleiman Shanak evaluated the ideas.The winners in the Hackathon are: Ezzedine Manasrah and Ghazi Al Murr for their project idea"Blue Cash" Abd Al Hadi Shajrawi Amna Hijjawi, Alaa Abu Shaweesh, and Waheed Rumana for their project idea "Nashmi Service"Abdul Rahman Al Jaouni for his project idea "Application of Permits" Muhammad Musa Daradkeh, Iman Al Juneidi for their idea "HealthGate Cloud" Hiba, Omar and Hala Asaad for their idea HealthTech Since its launch in 2015, the BIG platform has contributed to the growth of 37 Jordanian startups through its seven seasons, by providing guidance, media coverage, and networking opportunities. BIG platform is one of Orange Jordan's initiatives to promote youth entrepreneurship sector in the Kingdom, which is considered a backbone to the national economy, sustainable development, and supports creating job opportunities to reduce unemployment rates.-END-
