Orange Jordan renews its strategic agreement with Al-Balqa’ Applied University
13 Aug 2017
Orange Jordan recently signed a strategic agreement with Al-Balqa’ Applied University (BAU) by which it will give financial support to the underprivileged student’s fund and creative student’s projects, as well as to inaugurate the Innovation Incubator at the University to promote creativity, entrepreneurship and scientific excellence in the field of ICT, through connecting engineering graduates with the needs of the industry in Jordan. The agreement, which is a continuation of the long strategic partnership between the two parties, was signed by the President of Al-Balqa’ Applied University, Dr. Abdullah Srour Al-Zoubi and Chief Enterprise Officer of the Business Unit at Orange Jordan, Mr. Sami Smeirat, with the presence of a number of managers from both parties. Orange Jordan will transfer its global experience to engineering students at Al-Balqa’ Applied University by preparing them to enter the job market and assisting them through training in its labs, in addition to opening a green area in the university center in Al-Salt and equipping it with free Wi-Fi. Commenting on the occasion, Chief Enterprise Officer of the Business Unit of Orange Jordan, Mr. Sami Smeirat said: “We at Orange Jordan are proud of our cooperation with the distinguished Al-Balqa’ Applied University, where we offer our services in two different pillars. The first pillar is adding the university to our list of business customers and offering support, to strengthen its business through providing a wide range of telecom services. As for the second pillar, we provide developmental services to help the university fulfill its mission of improving the quality of education offered to young students, which falls in line with our social corporate responsibility plan, stemming from Orange Jordan's five-year strategic strategy Essentials 2020, which places customer service and the community across different segments, especially education and youth entrepreneurship, at its core.” From his side, President of Al-Balqa’ Applied University, Dr. Abdullah Srour Al-Zoubi praised Orange Jordan, which is an international operator with a local spirit that intrinsically cares about forming a real bond with the community, one that feels increasingly more friendly and understanding of the needs of individual members of society, for contributing to the growth of economy and wellbeing of Jordanians and to bridge digital divides, as Orange Jordan is the strongest provider of fast internet in the Kingdom. This comes in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to create employment opportunities for Jordanians. Al-Balqa’ Applied University works on implementing the royal vision and the national strategy for the development of human resources for the community and developing its education plans for graduate students, who are scientifically and technically qualified to enable them to compete and join the labor market locally and regionally.-End-
