Orange Jordan announces winners of the “Inspiring Change through Digital World” Award

Orange Jordan, in partnership with the Information and Communication Technology Association (Int@j), announced the winners of the “Inspiring Change through Digital World”, an award was launched on International Women’s Day in March 2022, to recognize and honor women entrepreneurs that have made notable contributions in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.
The award, launched under “SHETECHS”, an initiative by Int@j to institutionalize work to increase women’s effective representation in the ICT sector, aims to highlight the accomplishments of women entrepreneurs, and encourage those utilizing digital solutions in their projects and innovations.
The competition is directed towards women owners, founders or partners in an innovative project or idea, or a CEO/leader in a startup operating in Jordan.

The winning criteria mainly focused on the social and environmental impact of the project and whether it aligns with sustainability, innovation, competitiveness, and the viability of implementing the prototype, or being in the growth stage.

Following the evaluation carried out by a specialized jury, Cynthia Madanat Sharaiha, founder and creative director of Digitales Media, won the first prize of JD 3,000 for her efforts in leading the company that aims to produce creative, inspiring, and useful Arabic content.

Sania Labadi, founder of Shorfa, an interactive digital platform to teach modern standard Arabic and Levantine dialects, came in second place, with a prize of JD 2,000, whereas Abeer Al-Bashiti, founder of Larimar’s leading technology in enhancing well-being and productivity through smartphone applications and web services, won third place with a prize of JD 1,000.

Rana Dababneh, Deputy Chief PR, CSR, Corporate Communication Officer at Orange Jordan, congratulated the winners noting that they present great, leading models in the digital sector.

Dababneh highlighted that the award reflects Orange Jordan’s firm belief in the power of women innovators, as well as the company’s efforts to support entrepreneurship on a larger scale, noting that women empowerment is key in the company’s culture through tackling the pay gap, gender equality, and supporting accomplished, ambitious women to be in leadership positions, in addition to the company's corporate social responsibility that enables women across Jordan to grow and expand their projects.

CEO of Int@j, Nidal Bitar, affirmed the competition’s integral role in recognizing women empowerment efforts in the ICT sector, noting that Int@j has contributed in this regard through several initiatives supporting women in the sector, most notably “SHETECHS”.

Nidal said that Int@j is proud to partner with Orange Jordan as the company continues its leading role in women empowerment.

During the announcement event, Nidal Bitar also announced that the award winners will receive tickets to attend the MENA ICT Forum, organized by Int@j on December 16-17, 2022, at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center in the Dead Sea.
