FittiCoin enables users of turning sports activity into cash donations to combat Coronavirus
13 Apr 2020
FittiCoin, one of the startups participating in the seventh season of Orange Jordan's Business Innovation Growth accelerator program (BIG), announced that users can turn the coins collected via its app, which tracks steps and physical activity, into cash donations and direct them for the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Social Development, to support their efforts in preventing the spread of Coronavirus and reducing the crisis' aftermath, in collaboration with Orange Jordan. The application encourages users to adopt a healthy lifestyle, by tracking their steps and converting them into an e-currency called "FittiCoin," deposited in their accounts, and can be used either as donations for charities or to enjoy exclusive offers from a variety of partners and stores. Deploying this feature has emerged as a response to the current situation, and to offer the app users the opportunity to donate and support the efforts in preventing the spread of Coronavirus. Orange Jordan will donate JD 5 for every 100 FittiCoins or JD 1 for every 25 FittiCoins, as part of its corporate social responsibility, national duty, and commitment to support entrepreneurial projects, especially those joining BIG program, to the benefit of the kingdom and Jordanian society. Since its launch in 2015, BIG platform has contributed to the growth of 37 Jordanian startups over its seven seasons, by providing guidance, mentorship, the tools needed to define investment needs, logistical and marketing support, in addition to capacity building courses. It is worth noting that Orange Jordan launched "Stay Safe, Stay Home, Stay Connected" campaign once the government declared a state of emergency, aiming to combat Coronavirus crises, as a support the national efforts. Throughout the campaign, the company adopted many initiatives, topped by donating USD 100,000 to support the Ministry of Health, and JOD 20,000 to support the Crown Prince Foundation's initiative "Yawmeyethoum A'liena" which seeks to support daily wage workers who lost their source of income due to the curfew and quarantine imposed in the country. The company has offered effective communication channel for people with disabilities, and free browsing service for users of the Ministry of Education's e-learning platform, "Darsak," and kept all unpaid lines and internet subscriptions active, reflecting its corporate social responsibility and its belief in the importance of social solidarity to maintain integrity. -END-
