MoU signing between Orange Jordan, MoICT and NITC to establish and support an academy at Emaar Al Tafila

In order to offer citizens the opportunity to benefit from technology as an effective tool in the local community across all segments, focusing on governorates and seeking new methods to effectively benefit from knowledge stations through partnering with the private sector, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MOICT), National Information Technology Center(NITC), and Orange Jordan recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which Orange Jordan will establish and support Emaar Al- Tafila knowledge station, through offering Cisco Certified Training Programs. The MoU was signed by ICT Minister, Muthana Gharaibeh, Director General at National Information Technology Center (NITC), Baha-Din Khasawneh, and CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny, in the presence of Chairman of the Board of Directors at Orange Jordan, Dr.Shabib Ammari and the Territory Manager at Cisco Systems, Ala AlMasri.In accordance with the MoU, Orange Jordan will provide the academy with integrated telecommunication services, and will cooperate with NITC to support and equip the academy’s knowledge station, and qualify the trainers from Al- Tafila governorate to take the Cisco Academy exams and obtain their certificates in many areas related to network programming, management and network security.Eng. Muthana Gharaibeh said: “The knowledge stations were launched as per His Majesty’s vision regarding digital economy and knowledge transformation, and provide services to reach all people in governorates, with an emphasis on the ministry's quest to find innovative methods to benefit from knowledge stations in partnership with the private sectorAl Gharaibeh also affirmed that the ministry is working on supporting the knowledge stations program through cooperating with the private sector, to serve the local community and governorates, continuously seeking to develop the capabilities of the academy trainers in order for them to keep up with the global development, and provide e-learning in addition to developing knowledge stations to become a window for the e-government. Gharaibeh praised Orange Jordan’s constant efforts in supporting and joining various government initiatives aimed at spreading knowledge and technology in general, and its continuous support of numerous knowledge stations. Dr. Ammari praised the cooperation between MoICT and Orange Jordan, which always supports social responsibility since its establishment, and reflects His Majesty King Abdullah II’s direction in reality through concentrating on areas outside the capital Amman, in the aim of building capabilities and focusing on local communities and the youth in these areas.From his side, Marigny expressed his pride in the establishment of this academy at Emaar Al Tafileh clarifying that Orange Jordan is the digital partner of many institutions in the Kingdom, and through these projects, it aims to assist governorates digital transformation enabling its people to benefit from technology and give them an advantage to improve their lives and communities.From his side, Dr. Al-Khasawneh said that the center manages the knowledge stations spread around the country, as they offer a number of main services including training, various internet usages, printing research papers and reports, electronic services and scanner services, in addition to other electronic services, training courses and awareness activities.He pointed out that the main objective of the knowledge stations is to bridge the digital gap across the governorates in the Kingdom, develop human resources, offer them modern economic skills in the aim of increasing their competitiveness and increase their efficiency, in order for them to achieve a comprehensive socioeconomic development.The MoU is part of a series of agreements between Orange Jordan and many reputable leading academic institutions and comes in the framework of Orange’s five-year corporate strategy, “Essentials 2020” which aims to contribute to the development of the local ICT sector.
