Orange Jordan continues women empowerment efforts by increasing female representation and highlighting women's achievements in the company and the ICT sector, especially as women make up 26.4% of Orange Jordan’s workforce and 29.82% of its management positions.
Starting from within, the company held a special event on International Women’s Day to raise awareness of its employees on Hello Women, an initiative from the global Orange group to enhance female participation in tech and digital jobs through training and recruiting more women in these roles and sharing opportunities with female students in tech majors.
During the internal event, inspiring and influential women in the digital sector shared their experiences and journeys.
Orange Jordan’s employees read appreciation letters to their female colleagues across all levels and units to recognize their contributions to the company, sector, and society under the Care to Recognize initiative.
Supporting female entrepreneurship, Orange Jordan launched the Inspiring Change through Digital World Award for the second consecutive year on International Women’s Day in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) to highlight leading women in the digital sector on a wider scale and encourage more women to contribute to the sector’s development.
Along the same lines, Orange Jordan supported the European Union Delegation to Jordan’s Open Day event that was hosted in the Innovation Hub, co-funded by the EU, at the Orange Digital Village. The event brought together participants in the Orange digital programs, who shared their experiences with 50 female students from public schools to inspire them, alongside several EU ambassadors who encouraged the students to innovate and work in digital fields.
Orange Jordan said: "International Women’s Day means a lot to us; we are committed to supporting women in all roles and recognizing their immense contributions starting from within our company to our digital programs across Jordan and partnerships".
“As a responsible digital leader, we feel a great responsibility towards empowering women, as we believe in their role in progress, whether in the digital sector or overall sustainable development. Every year, we launch a series of initiatives to encourage more young women and girls to innovate and excel," the company added.
Orange Jordan affirmed that its women empowerment efforts are tangible, with women participating on all professional levels, including management. The company remains committed to gender equality, as it has earned the Gender Equality for European & International Standard (GEEIS) for the second consecutive time.
