Orange Jordan holds first Data Science Marketplace

Aiming to achieve the “Training for Employment” concept, Orange Jordan held the first marketplace for the graduates of the Data Science Academy, a program implemented under the “Innovation Space”, a three-year project co-funded by the European Union’s “Innovation for Enterprise Growth and Jobs” program “Innovate Jordan”, to support entrepreneurship and empower youth digitally across the Kingdom.

The marketplace, organized by Orange Jordan in partnership with Optimiza and supported by the European Union, was held under the patronage of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh.

This event gave the academy’s graduates a platform to connect with companies directly, where more than 25 companies from the ICT and financial industries, including Orange Jordan and its training academic partner in the academy, Optimiza.

The marketplace aims to bridge the gap between academic education and job market needs by training qualified data experts on extracting and analyzing big data, algorithms, and related systems, in addition to offering key skills in artificial intelligence to fulfill the demand required in the local and global market that witnessed increased growth in the volume of data and increased need for qualified talents to work in data-driven fields.

The academy provides an intensive training program for graduates from the faculties of science, computer, and engineering, and ensures reaching more participants through offering its program online.

As one of Orange Jordan’s educational programs  which contributed to the empowerment of more than 500 young men and women across the Kingdom, the Data Science Academy continues to develop the skills of the youth in the needed digital fields and enhance their employability,

Orange Jordan stated: “We were keen to organize the first marketplace for data science as an opportunity for students and companies to connect and facilitate the recruitment process,  which is aligned with the Data Science Academy’s goal, the first of its kind in the Kingdom; to qualify specialized experts to meet the requirements of the local and regional job market.”

Orange also thanked the European Union, Optimiza, and all the participating companies for supporting youth and the development of their skills by offering training and job opportunities to gain experience.

The “Innovation Space” project supports the expansion of Orange Jordan’s digital programs to include 9 Community Digital Centers, 5 new coding academies, 5 FabLabs, 8 start-up accelerators and incubators, in addition to an “Innovation Hub” at the Orange Digital Village in Amman.

The European Union funded "Innovation Space" is a pioneering initiative in Jordan and a one-stop-shop for digital innovation and entrepreneurial support. It will introduce digital culture to the wider Jordanian public, foster digital skills, especially among women and youth, and promote and nurture entrepreneurship by identifying key opportunities for digital economic growth.
