Orange Jordan organizes BIG by Orange summit
15 Apr 2019
Under the patronage of his Excellency, Prime Minister Dr. Omar Razzaz and organized by Orange Jordan, the second edition of BIG by Orange summit will be held on Wednesday, titled Start-ups' Impact on the Jordanian Socio-Economy, with the participation of around 300 Jordanian entrepreneurs, investors, and decision makers in different government and private sectors. In a press release issued by the company, Orange Jordan said that: "The success achieved by BIG by Orange last year was a motivation to organize this year's summit, as it formed an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to showcase their projects to business owners and investors, and know what the labour market requirements are. The company also affirmed that it has great interest in entrepreneurs and innovators, as part of its corporate social responsibility and empowering entrepreneurship plan, pointing out the role it plays in developing the national economy and digitalization, as a leader in providing communications and information technology services. This year, BIG by Orange summit will be held for one day and will witness a variety of workshops, where speakers from different sectors and a number of Jordanian business leaders will discuss topics related to entrepreneurship, in particular the incubator environment and its impact on the national economy. The opening session will witness the participation of the ICT Minister, H.E. Muthanna Gharaibeh, CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at int@j, Dr. Bashar Hawamdeh, during which they will disccuss the reality of "entrepreneurship in Jordan".While the second session will discuss the impact of start-up companies on the Jordanian economy, during which the results of the study conducted by Orange Jordan and in collaboration with the German Development Cooperation Office and Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), and implemented by Impact MENA will be published. The study was conducted based on the recommendations of the first summit, which was held last year to measure the impact of the contributions of start-up companies in the Jordanian economy, with the aim of providing decision makers with a general perspective on the contribution of start-up companies in developing the national economy. The third session will discuss how to strengthen and support the ecosystem of start-up companies in Jordan, in addition to how the government and non-governmental institutions support the growth of start-up companies and supporting them to enter the market. The final session of the summit will review the experiences of some start-ups and how they began their work and marketing their products. -End-
