Orange Jordan signs a connectivity agreement with Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO)

​Orange Jordan has signed an agreement with Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO) whereby the company will supply energy generated in the solar farms it will establish across different governorates in the Kingdom. Through this step, the company aims to cover its electricity needs on the Irbid electricity grid according to the energy transit system.The agreement was signed by IDECO’s General Manager, Ahmad Thainat and Deputy CEO/CFO at Orange Jordan, Raslan Deiranieh, in the attendance of executive managers from both companies.Upon signing the agreement, Thainat said that IDECO will continue supporting renewable energy projects in the Kingdom, due to their positive contribution to the the national economy and reducing the national energy bill, through generating electricity from alternative sources. From his side, Deiranieh said that within the framework of its five-year corporate strategy, “Essentials 2020”, Orange Jordan is working on switching to using renewable energy in its different operations, which will result in reducing the company’s electricity bill, and is the first step within the company’s efforts to finding solutions for clean energy, and reducing CO2 emissions, making it one of the first local telecom companies that make use of solar energy through establishing solar farms.Orange Jordan previously signed an agreement to execute its own renewable energy project, through establishing solar farms distributed across the Kingdom’s governorates.
