Orange Jordan Conducts Workshop at Coding School to Enrich Children’s Knowledge about Climate Change

8 Jan 2025

Orange Jordan conducted a workshop at the Coding School in collaboration with the Jordan Green Building Council, and Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE), targeting children aged between 10 and 13 years. The goal was to enrich their knowledge about the climate change challenge coinciding with the 29th UN Climate Conference COP29, which took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The "SuperCoders" workshop, which Orange Middle East and Africa has been conducting every year since 2021 coinciding with the United Nations Climate Conference, aimed to encourage children to understand this challenge and its implications, and enable them to utilize technology for the benefit of the planet, so that each code represents another green step leading to overcome the climate challenges and reduce carbon emissions.

The workshop titled “Let’s Code for the Planet” enabled the participants from the little coders to unleash their digital creativity after developing their skills in the Scratch programming language.

Over the past three years, the workshop has trained 1,034 children from 13 countries where Orange has a presence in, in the Middle East and Africa, of whom 176 have been trained on Scratch.

The 29th United Nations Climate Conference was held during the period between 11 to 22 November. Over the course of this global gathering, participating countries had a consensus on the need to reduce carbon emissions, achieve energy transition, and promote youth participation to overcome this global challenge.
