Orange Jordan and HCD communications channel serves more than 6000 cases
21 Apr 2020
The emergency line specialized for people with disabilities, offered by Orange Jordan and in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, has received more than 6000 calls via Sign Book solution, since its launch, in response to the precautionary measures imposed by the Government to combat Coronavirus.Sign Book technology, a solution developed by one of the startups that participated in the 6th season of Orange's Business Innovation Growth accelerator program (BIG), aims to enhance the access of people with disabilities to services and products via technology, address their needs under any circumstances and enhance their integration in the society by offering sign language interpretation, barcode reading, and other services. Communication is now a priority for all Jordanians due to the undertaken measures to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. Sign Book utilized this technology to provide an effective communication tool for persons with hearing impairment to enable them of asking questions related to the epidemic, to ensure their health and safety by calling 0770011516 using IMO application or visit: https://storage.googleapis.com/signboo/vidcall/hotline1.html.The interpreter receives the call and then transfers the request to the coronavirus hotline 111, powered by Al-Tibbi Company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, to seek necessary medical advice and information from doctors. Using the same number, calls from people with disabilities in the Kingdom are also received. Their calls are transferred to the specialized authorities to provide them with the needed support effectively and promptly, especially in the current circumstances which requires all Jordanians to stay home, in accordance with the precautionary measures aimed to ensure their safety.Orange Jordan affirmed its keenness to find a reliable and easy communication channel, which sheds light on the requirements of people with disabilities, harnessing its technical resources for digital inclusion and keeping all Jordanians connected in the current situation. This initiative is stemmed from the company's national contribution and role as a responsible digital provider, and the Kingdom's digital partner. It falls under the company's umbrella "Differently Abled, Definitely Enabled", which aims to come up with community-based programs and digital solutions for people with disabilities. -END-
